“Echoes of Memories” is about the intimate portrayal of my neighborhood where lot of vacant spaces that I loved while growing up are now lost due to rapid urbanization.
Growing up in a quaint suburb, I have nostalgic memories of agricultural land, clean rivers, open spaces, greenery and fresh air. But in the last two decades, due to heavy migration and unplanned urbanization in the Kathmandu Valley, suburb like mine which formed the outskirts of Kathmandu have now become concrete jungles, devoid of the greenery and empty spaces. There’s almost no agricultural land left and the rivers have changed their shapes and become so polluted that water barely flows through them.
This change in Kathmandu is what I try to explore in the outskirts.
